Biography
Dr. Mehdi Salek is lead instructor for MIT’s New Engineering Education Transformation (NEET) Living Machines thread (20.051 & 20.054). Living Machines is an interdisciplinary project-based undergraduate program (spanning the three years from sophomore to senior students) that focuses on biotech and medical devices.
Dr. Salek first joined MIT in 2013 as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Roman Stocker’s lab. In 2016, he moved to Switzerland where he was doing research at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. Dr. Salek returned to MIT in 2019 and started his new position as an instructor for NEET Living Machines. His research interests include: Biophysics, Microfluidics, Biofilm engineering, Bacterial ecology, and Physiologically relevant flows.
